Authors: Edilson Pereira Junior
In this article, the author explores the relationship between innovation, industry, and urban business hubs. The goal is to understand how entrepreneurs and social agents in local and regional areas use these business clusters to gain a competitive advantage. The author introduces the concept of “productive spatial configurations,” which refers to the specific ways in which innovative production processes impact a region. To illustrate this concept, they examine the clothing and apparel industry in Fortaleza, Brazil. This industry has experienced a revitalization with significant innovations in production and distribution processes. The author aims to develop theoretical and empirical tools to analyze the combination of economic, social, and political factors in collaborative networks of companies, service centers, and public institutions. Ultimately, this research aims to address misunderstandings and controversies surrounding the relationship between innovation, industry, and business hubs.
